Fourteen schools from the United Kingdom are in Cape Town this week, facing off against 19 local schools and clubs in rugby, hockey and netball at the Connect Festival of Unity. Top performers get a shot at representing Connect at the Global Schools Challenge in Chiang Mai, Thailand later this year.
On 18 July, Young Urbanists SA is turning Bree Street into a 1,600-seat Mandela Day Langtafel. Free bread for everyone, a sponsored hot meal for those who need it, and the usual open-street energy along Bree from 12:00 to 17:00.

They also do bagels, waffles and Biscoff cheesecake when you need something more substantial. On Uber Eats too, for days when leaving the house is not an option.

Notos in Glencairn is a Greek frozen yoghurt bar at the southern end of the Peninsula, open seven days from 12:00 to 21:00. The kind of place you drive past and file away for summer, then find yourself stopping at in winter anyway.
