Chef Angel Leon's design leans on kelp forest greens, timber and bronze. Quietly one of the year's best design stories.

Cape Town has its own answer to Paul the Octopus. Cherry, a young octopus at the Two Oceans Aquarium, has made her first World Cup prediction, choosing between South Africa and Mexico ahead of tonight's opener as part of her enrichment programme. Bafana Bafana fans, brace yourselves.

A unicorn has been hiding in plain sight. Cape Town performer Nicolette Fernandes went viral questioning the Clicks logo, realising after years of driving past it that the animal is a unicorn, not a horse. The brand has used it since 1968. Go look twice today.

Hidden Gems 3 finds

The Rock, end of Ocean View Drive, Fresnaye. Free. A flat granite boulder hidden in the bush above Camps Bay, with the Twelve Apostles laid out before you. No signs, no lights, just the view.

The Dark Horse, 145 Kloof Street, Gardens. A neighbourhood bar with a rooftop mountain view, vintage finds and a short vegetarian menu. Open from 16:00 Thursdays.

Rosetta Roastery, Woodstock Exchange, 66 Albert Road. Two thirds roastery, one third cafe, with a sun filled courtyard and single origin coffees roasted on site. A good slow detour before tonight's plans, and the rest of the Exchange is worth an extra hour.
