Mpumalanga's Panorama Route has landed at number 10 on a global ranking of the world's most dog-friendly road trips, the only South African entry on the list. AutoTrader counted six service stations and 17 outdoor stops along the R532/R36, putting it alongside Florida's Overseas Highway and Spain's Costa Brava. Worth remembering next time the dog's coming along for the Blyde River Canyon views.

If you spot him yourself, keep your distance, 20 to 30 metres and zoom in rather than closing in, and leash any dogs nearby.
