Hey,

The storm finally took the hint, the sun is back, and the city is just about ready to come outside again. Take a sip.

A word from our sponsor

Six mature-friendly shades. One mascara that actually stays put.

Most mascaras promise length… then leave you with smudges, flakes, and clumps by lunchtime.

That’s why so many 50+ women are switching to PrimeLash.

It’s a tubing mascara designed for your lashes, wrapping each one to lift, define, and separate...even the ones that might be too small to see.

And when it’s time to take PrimeLash off? It slides right off with warm water. No rubbing or irritation.

From everyday black to soft brown, plus bold shades like Emerald, Burgundy, and Mulberry… there’s a color for every kind of day.

Get longer-looking lashes with zero smudge. Finally.

Friday is pouring slow and cloudy with a 12°C floor, the sun is promising a late appearance, and Rocky Horror is plotting a return to Camps Bay. The mood, frankly, is a little theatrical.

Today's Headlines 3 reads

Time Out reports The Rocky Horror Show is coming back to Theatre on the Bay for a very short August run, with Craig Urbani back in stilettos as Dr Frank-N-Furter. Fishnets out of storage, Brews.

Two men just got sentenced for hand-feeding seals in Hout Bay. The harbour wildlife are not your golden retrievers, despite what the eyes might suggest.

UCT has quietly closed the gate Cape Town's joggers have used for years, and the backlash over the lost Joggers Path is already mountain-sized. The Sunday run group chat is going to be a war zone.

What To Do Today 5 plans
17:00 5pm sharp: Concert Celebration at Wynberg Boys' Junior lines up the Grey and WBJS choirs at Arnold Lorie Hall. Brass, choral lift, the parents trying not to cry openly.
18:00 Marley Tribute at TrenchTown keeps Long Street's reggae outpost in full sway. Kingston playlist, rum-friendly room, low pretension index.
19:00 Friday Night Live with The Velvet Sunset lands at KAYA HQ, alt-pop with that smoky 70s drape and a band that knows how to land an outro.
19:00 City Bowl shift: Strictly Soul Cape Town lands at Youngblood Art Gallery with vintage soul, vinyl-fed funk, and the kind of crowd that actually dances rather than holds up a phone.
20:00 For the night owls, Indie Dog and friends at District kicks off with BCOM and Dierbaar in support. Loud guitars, low ceilings, the right kind of Friday.
Today's Hidden Gems 3 finds

Ember & Oak at Constantia Uitsig pours small plates from a couple of ex-La Colombe hands, with a fireplace doing the heavy lifting all winter and a teriyaki-glazed pork rib that punches above its price.

Kloof Street House, tucked behind the hedges at 30 Kloof Street, runs three original fireplaces and a slight Gatsby complex. Worth the detour.

Galjoen on Harrington Street keeps its 30-seater menu strictly local and strictly seasonal, with line-caught fish and foraged sea vegetables in the mix. The winter set lunch is R450, and worth every cent of it.

Quote of the Day
