Hey {{first_name | Brew}}
Happy Friday, Cape Town. Constantia SPAR is handing out Surprise Bags to rescue food before it hits the bin, and there’s news of leopards on the move around the peninsula. Cheslin Kolbe is also launching his memoir.
Tonight is stacked with live music, and tomorrow the Down to EARTH Market is free, with Ollieland a good bet if you’ve got little ones to keep busy.

A Constantia supermarket has found a tasty use for yesterday's stock. KWIKSPAR Alphen sells its surplus as discounted Surprise Bags on the Refreshi app, and the tally has hit about R107 000 for hunger relief. Over 23 000 bags have sold since April 2025, all of it going to FoodForward SA.
Not every leopard in South Africa has whiskers. The Cape Leopard Trust points out that the country is full of spotted namesakes, from the leopard tortoise and leopard toad to a leopard orchid and a leopard catshark. The spots work as camouflage or a warning label, so the look is strictly practical.
Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe is launching his memoir, Sidestepping the Odds, at Cavendish Square on Thursday, 22 October at 19:00. The book tells the story of the Kraaifontein boy who was told he was too small for professional rugby and went on to win two World Cups. The launch is free but is already fully booked.
