Hey {{first_name | Brew}}

A skateboarder is making his way from Jeffreys Bay to Cape Town, attempting a world record one push at a time.

Closer to home, Strand’s beachfront is getting a glow-up, a local school is about to get its own 5-a-side pitch, and the weekend market calendar is packed.

Today’s Brew is poured. First, a word from the people who keep it free:

A skateboarder named Nathan Dupreez has set off from Jeffreys Bay, and Cape Town is the next stop. He says he's skating to the Mother City and back as an attempt at the world record for the longest journey by skateboard, and he's raising money for a support vehicle so he can make it official. If you see him on the road, give him a wide berth and a wave.

Strand's beachfront is getting a makeover just in time for summer. The City's seawall and promenade upgrade along Beach Road is on track for completion by November, with a wider paved walkway, benches, lighting and new stairs down to the sand. The wall is also meant to protect the road and nearby businesses from high tides and storm surges. More phases will follow after the festive season.

Welcome Primary School in Cape Town is getting a new 5-a-side soccer pitch, and Uthando South Africa is raising the funds with Bishops Diocesan College. The Pitch for Peace project will turn an underused space at the school into a safe place for learners to play and build life skills through sport. The fundraising link is in Uthando's post if you'd like to support.
