Cape Town's photography festival is back for round two this September, and this year it's spilling out of the galleries entirely. Forty exhibitions and more than 160 photographers take over spots from the Castle of Good Hope to Company's Garden, all circling one blunt question: can a photograph still be trusted. Opens 2 September, runs the month.
The City has confirmed the Sea Point Promenade e-scooter crackdown, 8km/h max, pedestrians always have right of way. No racing, no grassed areas, one rider per device, and rental operators face a formal compliance system from September. Signage and enforcement land by end of August, backed by Parks Rangers, Law Enforcement and Urban Mobility.
The R1 billion Cape Town EDITION rising at the V&A Waterfront has Capetonians talking, and not about the price tag. Writer Tom Eaton called it a Soviet prison meets 1980s new money, and TV personality Janez Vermeiren compared it to a giant barn dropped onto the site before raising the bigger question: whether the wider Granger Bay development actually benefits the people who live here, not just the skyline. Due to open in October.
