Cape Town's Olivia "Olive" Viglatzis cooks full meals for as little as R20 a portion on her budget series, and has turned it into a feeding drive. It started with her filming from her own kitchen, and she now has more than 100,000 followers on TikTok. Once a month she and her wife, Veronica, put together and hand out food parcels to pensioners and job seekers, mainly in Richwood and Bothasig. Her sign-off on every video is to be kind, because it might be someone's only meal.

Lea Kervarrec, 12, is hosting a 5 km fun run on the sand at Eden on the Bay in Big Bay this Sunday, 1 November, with an 08:00 start. The Salty Five is her Grade 6 project for SALT's School Feeding Programme, and she has already raised more than R16,000, enough to feed 100 children for a month. Tickets are R150 and capped at 199, no dogs on the beach, and every ticket is a lucky draw entry. Her next goal is R30,000, to feed 200.
