Hey {{first_name | Brew}}

UWC students swept their own nature photography contest, Cape Town finally has a real plan to finish the unfinished Foreshore bridges, and a Mrs SA princess took handmade Shweshwe handbags all the way to the Paris Fashion Week runway.

There's a market takeover in Plumstead, a padel and brunch morning in Clifton, and a 1969 Woodstock tribute night in Noordhoek on this weekend's list, plus a sourdough bakery on Rose Street worth queuing for.

Here's what's brewing.

UWC students turned their cameras on the Cape Flats Nature Reserve, a critically endangered pocket of fynbos right on their doorstep, submitting 196 photographs for the university's second Nature Photography Competition, with 24 standout shots now on exhibition at the UWC Library until the end of October.

Cape Town's famously unfinished Foreshore bridges could finally get finished, with the City unveiling plans for a new link bridge, an outbound tunnel and 15 hectares of parks, promenades and housing where the elevated freeways now stand.

Mrs SA First Princess Talitha Oosthuizen is taking Shweshwe handbags made by South African women artisans to the Paris Fashion Week runway, proving South African craftsmanship and culture belong on the world stage without having to leave their identity behind.

Dressing Room Cafe, tucked inside Weylandts in De Waterkant, runs a harvest table lunch where you just pick a protein and a few sides and let the kitchen take it from there.

Lion's Bread on Rose Street bakes slow-fermented sourdough the old-fashioned way, and it sells out fast, so get there early if you want a loaf.

Crankshaft Cafe in the City Centre pairs a solid coffee counter with a classic car theme, making it as much a spot to look around as it is to grab a cup.

Fact of the Day

Crows hold grudges. University of Washington research found they recognise individual human faces, remember a bad encounter for years, and teach their own chicks to scold the person who wronged them.

That's today sorted. Hold onto your hat out there.
