South African actress Desiré Gardner is back with another viral homework session, this time tackling English's silent letters, "know" versus "no", the silent G in "gnome", the silent N at the end of "autumn". Patient, funny, and a solid reminder that even native speakers can't fully explain this language. Her home classroom keeps winning the internet one lesson at a time.
Four young riders from Team Zonke are tackling 600km of Botswana rally terrain, aged just 7 to 14, hoping to raise R200,000 for the Maletsatsi Foundation's work with vulnerable children, including legal fights to get kids their identity documents. R100,000 is already in from Field Services & Engineering. A few teammates couldn't make the trip themselves, still waiting on that same paperwork, which makes the ones who did all the more determined to make it count.
The Springboks have unveiled a special edition jersey for Rugby's Greatest Rivalry Tour, with the lyrics of Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika worked in tone-on-tone across the flag's shape, all five official languages included. It debuts against the All Blacks at Ellis Park on 22 August, limited to this one series only. As SA Rugby's CEO put it, they've always worn their hearts on their sleeves, now they're wearing the anthem on their chests too.
