South Africa is running its first National Crane Census in two decades this weekend with birders, farmers and anyone outdoors asked to log sightings of the Blue, Wattled and Grey Crowned crane. Williams driver Alex Albon is heading to South Africa off the back of a show car roadshow that already had Cape Town, Durban and Joburg queuing up. He's never raced on the continent, but says he's always wanted to visit and would love to see a Grand Prix on African soil one day, the first active Williams driver back since Alain Prost's 1993 Kyalami win. I Love Pho in Claremont is halal Vietnamese comfort food done properly, vegetable dumplings so juicy they nearly qualify as soup, and a chicken pho with a broth deep enough to count as the best in the city. The Korean fried wings and prawn wontons are worth the extra order. Spotless inside, fast service even on a busy weekday.
