No cat carrier, no problem. Mr Boqwana put his ginger cat into a Woolies bag and walked straight into the animal hospital for a sterilisation visit. The cat made it. The bag held. The photo made Cape Town's morning.
Tomorrow is Mandela Day, and 134 shelter dogs in Khayelitsha are in line for something they have never had: their own permanent kennel. One of those quietly enormous Mandela Day projects that sneaks up on you.

Tubros is proof good food doesn't have to break the bank. Prawn pot stickers in soy chilli, four fried wings with chips for R49, a two cheese slider combo for R99 built to split. The Nob serves the biggest burger in Cape Town, and the reaction is half the show. BOCHI is turning out croffles stacked with cookies and cream, Kinder Bueno, and a habibi flavour that had the table going quiet mid-bite. Order three, split them all, and let someone else worry about which one wins. Authorized personnel only, apparently. Worth the queue.
