Cape Town has its own real-life superhero. The Templar of the Cape dons a cape and mask to clean up litter between False Bay and Wynberg, having filled over 40 trash bags in nine weeks. He's now building a community of fellow costumed cleaners, with the first "Cleaners of the Cape" meet-up set for 9 August. As he puts it: be the change you want to see, start where you are.
A Cape Town couple went hunting for a Malachite Sunbird at Kirstenbosch on Thursday and got something far rarer instead. Just as Christel Schuttler lined up her shot, a caracal wandered calmly into view, one of the Cape's most elusive predators, paused just long enough for a handful of photos, then melted back into the fynbos like it had never been there.
When Pieter du Plessis broke down on the R300/N2 off-ramp, Officer Lerato Moletsane pulled in and stayed with him and his wife until the tow truck came. He posted a thank you, and the comments took it from there: other strangers chimed in with their own run-ins with her, an inflated tyre here, an escort off a busy off-ramp there, all unprompted. One kind cop story is nice. A pile-up of them from people who've never met each other is starting to look like just who she is.

Sake in Sable Square, Milnerton, is doing dim sum properly, black bean ribs, bao, dumplings and crispy Peking duck you wrap yourself. Sushi and tempura prawns are on the menu too, but the steamed small plates are the real reason to book a table with friends.
Harvest Café in Muizenberg is a laptop-friendly beach spot open daily 7am to 4pm, sit-down breakfast, brunch and lunch, vegan and not-so-vegan options, speciality coffee and takeaway pastries. Dogs welcome, beach a short stroll away.
Asoka is running a three-course winter menu for R295, excluding drinks, lamb spring rolls, salmon and sirloin cuts, small plates but filling. Dress up for the interiors, catch live jazz on Sundays, and save room since dessert's a separate order.
