Turns out we didn't need a study to tell us this, but here's one anyway: South Africans spend more time behind the wheel than any other nation on earth, over ten and a half hours a week, more than double the UK average and streets ahead of Ireland in second place. Cardiff, eat your heart out.

Mabu Vinyl hides up a staircase behind a yellow gate on Long Street, no sign, just decades of vinyl, cassettes and comics, and clearance records under R20.
Punjab in Durbanville is the new Indian restaurant everyone's suddenly talking about, and the hype tracks. Rich, flavour packed curries, fresh naan pulled hot, and a menu with a few gluten and sugar free dishes worked in. The owner plays host himself, steering newcomers toward the chilli chicken, an Indo Chinese fusion dish that's become the unofficial signature. Church Street, worth the drive from the city bowl.
Talladega Grill in Lansdowne is doing Texas style smoked meats, halal, and doing them properly. The brisket, ribs and wings all get that low and slow melt in the mouth texture, and the smash brisket and rib burger piles both smoked meats onto one brioche bun. Fruit sparklers and a chocolate volcano cake round it out. Imam Haron Road, worth going back to twice.
